Second book by the author; ' ... a warm, sunny novel of California which is both a character study of genuine fascination and a story told in the most fundamental human terms' (jacket front flyleaf).[6] 8vo. - over 7 ¾ in. - 9 ¾ in. 279pp., bound in full green cloth with blue stamped titles on the spine and front cover. Well-preserved enough copy of an exceptionally rare work of fiction, with an especially desirable provenance. Albert Isaac Bezzerides (1908-2007) was an American novelist and screenwriter born in the Ottoman Empire and of Greek and Armenian parentage; noted for the screenplays of such features as 'They Drive By Night' (1940; based on his first book 'The Long Haul'); 'Desert Fury' (1947); 'Kiss Me Deadly' (1955); and others; also was co-creator of the television series 'The Big Valley.” A Very Good copy with minor bumping to the corners, light fading to the cloth, and slight internal browning to edges and endpapers. The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with light edgewear and rubbing.
