Albert Isaac Bezzerides (1908-2007); American novelist and screenwriter, born in the Ottoman Empire (present-day Turkey) of Greek and Armenian parentage; noted for the screenplays of such features as "They Drive By Night" (1940; based on his first book "The Long Haul"); "Desert Fury" (1947); "Kiss Me Deadly" (1955); and others; also was co-creator of the television series "The Big Valley"
