First issue in this format of the several verse and prose pieces (including the 'Poems on Several Occasions' (with several poems in Latin), the verse tragedy 'Cato' and the comedy 'The Drummer, or, The Haunted-House', etc). With Addison's own 4 1/2 page preface ('To the Right Honourable James Craggs, Esq'; volume 1); preface and dedicatory poem by Thomas Tickell (volume 1); tables of contents (volume 1, at rear of volume 1; volumes 2 & 3, at rear of volume 2).
