BAL #9908; with Scribner's seal and 'Published March, 1915' on title page verso; also notable for the publisher's advertisements of Huneker's works at rear. With tipped-in autograph letter signed ('James Huneker') on front attached endpaper (envelope tipped on rear attached endpaper), 1 page (recto only) to 'Mrs. Edward White' of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; with a partly legible address at head, dated May 1st, 1915: 'Thank you for your very nice (and flattering) letter, followed by the Phila[delphia] Symphony Orchestra prospectus. I'm mighty glad my old town has a good band with a good conductor. I hear much praise for Stokowski and his wife Olga Samarov ... Our regards to you and Bettina Queen of the May ...' With the printed seating plan of the Philadelphia Orchestra present (with unidentified pencil annotation, not by Huneker). Slight rubbing and fraying to extremities (chiefly head and foot of spine); slight rubbing to covers; slight bumping to corners; previous owner's ink signature on front free endpaper; slight internal browning to edges and endpapers; else a very serviceable copy with a particularly interesting sophistication.
