VG- in lacquer boards (front cover detached, back cover loosening). oblong 8vo [ 24]pp Series of original hand-colored photographic views taken in and around Nagasaki, Japan, at the turn of the 19th century; bound in wooden lacquered boards, upper cover decorated in gilt, red and gray with scene by the seashore, featuring two gentlemen of Japan apparently chasing butterflies. Very unusual collection of photos, even more so due to binding (exterior as noted; slight bumping to corners, some internal browning, else Very Good). 12 hand-colored photos.
