A famous collection of medieval British, Irish, Norman, and Welsh historical texts edited by the English antiquarian William Camden and published in Frankfurt in 1603. Folio 9.25 x 14 in. [12] + 898pp. + [31] pages of index. Text in Latin. The printer is Andreas Wechel with his emblem on title page and the last page at the back (Caduceus surmounted by Pegasus and cornucopia) illustrated with nice historiated (St. Christopher) and floriated initials throughout, plus 2 full pages featuring 6 and 7 woodcuts of the kings (13 altogether); and a couple head- and tail-pieces. Contemporary full calf over thick boards, with raised bands and a light brown leather title label stamped in gilt. Signs of restoration and repair work especially at the top and bottom of the spine, and to the front hinge and gutter; interior has some moderate offsetting from the type and a tiny bit of soiling in places.
