Two volumes bound together with The Trials of Margaret Lyndsay, by John Wilson. 1845. Typee’s text is complete, including the map frontispiece in Part I; however, lacking the ads and blank leaves; all edges have been slightly trimmed. Bound in three quarter tan calf over marbled board with gilt decorated spine, most of the black leather title label is missing. Marbled endpapers. From the library of noted poet/academic William Matchet with his name, place and date (1952) on the verso of the ffep; and previous owner’s name to at the top, H. Pumpelly (ca. 1850s). Rubbing to the calf and marbled boards, corners rubbed; light soiling to the edges, else a Very Good copy.
