Aino Fairy Tales. No. 1. The Hunter in Fairy-Land
Ticknor & Co., 1887. First Edition. Wraps. Near Fine. Item #652143
A nice copy. 5 x 7.5 in. [17]pp., including color wraps bound Japanese-style with blue silk ties; color woodblock illustrations by Sensei Eikatu. A touch of light wear, else a Near Fine copy. // The first of three titles in the Aino Fairy Tale Series, intended as a supplement to the Japanese Fairy Tale Series, focussed on the myths of the northern Ainu people. Though there was a good amount of Western interest in the Ainu at this time, the series did not sell well and was discontinued.
