'An account of the decorative development of the craft chiefly in England from the XVIth to the XVIIIth century, with chapters on the stucco of the classic period and of the Italian Renaissance; also on sgraffito, pargetting, Scottish, Irish, and modern plasterwork' (title page). Illustrated with 472 b/w figures. Includes bibliographical references and index. 'Errata and corrigenda' slip tipped-in at beginning of text. A Good copy with light rubbing to the cloth, light soiling to the text and smudges from use; minor wear to text fore-edge, else a solid, serviceable copy of a scarce monograph. PROVENANCE: I) several ink stamps of the noted architectural firm of Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge; II) pencil signature on front endpaper of Charles Hodgdon, formerly of Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge.
