Slight nicks to edges (from opening of aerogrammes); else fairly clean condition. 3 thin 4to leaves, recto/verso. Set of 3 letters from the noted American Beat poet to one 'Mrs. Edwina C. Schiffer' (1 to an address in France, and 2 to her address in Berkeley, California), on aerogramme forms, Kyoto, Japan, December 7, 1983; January 16, 1984, and February 13, 1984. Discussion of various subjects, including his living space in Kyoto, payment for several commissioned works, sale of certain art works and a variety of job prospects in Japan. All 3 letters have holograph additions in black ink (generally in margins at end of typed letter on last fold); the last-dated letter with the most extensive of these additions. With additional Xeroxed copies (6 leaves, rectos only) of all letters present. Corman (1924-2004), American poet, editor and translator, in Kyoto, Japan from 1958 on; noted as the editor of 'Origin' magazine, and as the translator of various French and Japanese poets, as well as for his original verses.
