Cold Dogs in the Courtyard

Literary Times / Cyfoeth Publications, 1965. First Edition. Trade Paperback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Near Fine / No Jacket. Item #L070338

Almost as new copy of this scarce fragile early Bukowski. Slight rubbing and browning to wrappers; slight internal browning to edges; tiny spine title hand-lettered (almost invisibly). 23 pages. Contains 13 poems in all, plus Bukowski's 'foreward' (sic) and acknowledgments. Krumhansl #16; one of approximately 500 copies, published in the summer of 1965 (and lacking the later emendation to the 'author's edition' making this the true first issue). Provenance: From the library and with the small neat ink signature at head of title page of noted Los Angeles poet and editor (of ONTHEBUS, etc.) Marcus (Jack) Grapes, a long-time correspondent and publisher of Charles Bukowski, who was also a fellow Loujon Press author (see OUTSIDER 4 / 5 in which they both appear). Some of the work in this rare collection was drawn from OUTSIDER, making this a particularly nice association copy.Milam, Betsy (illustrator); 1 b/w Illustration (upper wrapper); 1 b/w Photograph (portrait; Lower wrapper).

Price: $1,250.00
