Cheap mass-market reprint issue of the novel, set in ancient Egypt and the Sinai regions ('Idumea', etc); originally published in the US in 1851, with the subtitle 'The Young Lion of Mount Hor' (see Wright, II, 573). Date is conjectural (not dated in book; one advertisement at rear for 'Theodore Roosevelt: The Pride of the Rough Riders: An Ideal American' by Thomas W. Handford). Also noteworthy for the distinct vegetarian cast to the advertisement for Quaker Oats on lower wrapper. Still a nice, tight copy internally.Advertising Matter.
