Final 2 volumes of the Latin translation (translator unidentified within) of the original French language recension of canon law with regard to 'cases of conscience' (pace James Benjamin Blish); first published in Paris in 1730 (in 3 volumes). BMC, volume 20, page 660, column 777. 2 volumes (of 3; 'E-O' and 'P-Z', respectively; with index at rear of volume 3), bound in full dark brown calf, gilt-stamped and decorated spines with raised bands, covers ruled blind and with gilt-stamped crest in middle, plain endpapers, all edges stained red. Unascertained provenance (gilt-stamped crest on covers has animal motifs, including an apparent stag and hare, surrounding a castle, with the motto 'Non est mortale quo dopto'); still a very desirable set.Few Engraved Decorations (title Pages & headpieces).
