Text of the former US Army colonel's petition before the US Senate to restore his former rank nearly 6 years after what he deems a 'spurious Court Martial' which deprived him of it. Notable for the descriptions of desertion in the army of that era, as well as those of his own cause ('... for eleven years [I] served [my] country with a zeal and fidelity second to no man'; page 4). Dated December 19, 1825 on upper wrapper ('Printed by order of the Senate of the United States'; upper wrapper).
