With your interest in Czechoslovaks and the fate of their country, you must at this time be much impressed with what is going on there. It is a development that we did not expect to see in our lifetimes ...' Additional relevant matter present (including reproduced portrait photograph by Philippe Halsman, Xeroxed copy (partial) of dust jacket for Davenport's 'Too Strong for Fantasy' (referring to the author's years in Czechoslovakia), and 2 Xeroxed copies of original letter). Slight crease to midsection; slight browning to edges; else a very well-preserved document. Davenport (born 1903), American author and music critic, daughter of singer Alma Gluck; most famous for her 1932 biography of Mozart, and for various novels ('The Valley of Decision', 1943; 'East Side, West Side', 1947; 'My Brother's Keeper', 1954; etc).
