1 page (1 leaf; recto only). Letter to solicitor Timothy O'Keeffe, London, on Calder and Boyars Limited letterhead: 'Dear Tim, We would like to thank you most sincerely for your very generous assistance in the LAST EXIT TO BROOKLYN case. As you know, we have gone down, but this happened only because the Magistrate decided to ignore the important testimony that you gave ... it helped considerably to establish in the mind of the public the value of the book ... Our most sincere and appreciative thanks.' Signature of both Calder and Boyars, with holograph postscript (most probably in the hand of Boyars): 'How about Maxwell??' Slight horizontal and vertical creases; slight browning to folds and edges; else a very well-preserved ephemeral memento of one of the liveliest cases in British publishing history.
