Bound in full brown calf, gilt-stamped brown morocco spine label, plain endpapers. Some general wear to extremities (chiefly to head and foot of spine, edges and corners); covers rubbed; hinges weakening; previous owners' ink inscriptions on preliminaries and title page; slight creases and internal browning and/or foxing (chiefly to endpapers and preliminaries). Mackenzie (1745-1831), Scottish novelist and miscellaneous writer; attorney for the crown in Scotland and also comptroller of taxes for Scotland (1804-31); styled the "Northern Addison" by Sir Walter Scott.
