6 1/2 x 4 1/4 ' on medium heavy stock card. Full-face portrait in floral hat, boldly signed in black ink underneath image. Chipped at top edge and upper left corner (unaffecting image), lower portion of card rubbed, slight stains and uniform browning to card (chiefly on blank verso); else a fairly serviceable copy with signature. Anderson (1859-1940), American actress, born in Sacramento, California; moved with family to Kentucky and trained as an actress in New York (pursuant to the advice of Charlotte Saunders Cushman); debut in Louisville, KY in 1875 (as Juliet); New York debut in 1877 (in 'The Lady of Lyons'); toured both England and America in a variety of Shakespearean roles (chiefly Rosalind, Perdita, and Hermione) and also in plays by W. S.
