6 x 4 1/8 inches; pasted on printed heavy stock with imprint of Baker's Art Gallery on verso. Signed and inscribed 'Yours truly, Thomas Keene' on recto (3/4 left profile pose), and boldly signed and inscribed 'To 'Billie' from Thomas Keene' on verso. Slight wear and chipping to edges of photograph proper; chip to lower edge more noticeable on verso; slight uniform browning, else a fairly remarkable souvenir. Date is conjectural (logo on verso reads 'Grand Prize and Highest Award at the World's Fair'; presumably the Chicago exposition). Keene (1840-1898), New York born actor, generally in Shakespearean roles; made several cross-country tours of America, 1880-98; noted for his earlier style of performance.1 Sepia-tone Photograph.
