Attractively bound in period 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards, spines with raised bands and gilt floral tooling within compartments surrounded by gilt scrollwork, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers (slight wear). This volume is from the 26-volume set of Carlyle, with text based on the Appleton edition (and apparently printed from their plates). It is undated (date supplied by Worldcat). 'Edition de luxe.
