A fine example of this outstanding portrait photograph of Allen Ginsberg, showing the great poet surrounded by his books and those of William Blake, playing his celebrated concertina. 9.5 x 9.5 image on 14 x 11 sheet, signed and dated by photographer on verso (1981 - though the image appears to have been taken years earlier). A pristine example. Ball (1942-2020) 'was a contributor to the first issues of Rolling Stone magazine, he shot the cover photo of Eldridge Cleaver for his book, Soul on Ice, as well as the famous college dorm poster of Huey Newton in a rattan chair holding a rifle and spear' (Seattle Times). We can find record of no other example of this portrait of Ginsberg.
