One of 100 copies (the complete edition). 6 pages plus cover. Catalogue of the debut exhibition for DeLoss McGraw's preliminary paintings and sketches to illustrate Lewis Carroll's 'Through the Looking Glass', the sequel to his celebrated edition of 'Alice in Wonderland', winner of the Gold Medal from the New York Society of Illustrators in 2001. McGraw's colorful and vibrant work inspires children of all ages while not avoiding some of the edgier aspects of this remarkably complex work, generally considered to be Carroll's most psychologically involved. although no date for the full edition is set, this exhibition of work clearly shows that when published it will equal his award-winning 'Alice'. McGraw is an illustrator and artist who has worked with such authors as Janet Lewis, W. D. Snodgrass, Gary Soto, Robert Pinsky, et al., and reinterpreted classic texts by Carroll, Berthold Brecht, John Steinbeck, among others. Carroll's 'Alice' has been the subject of McGraw's fascination for years, as he considers the character to have become the archetype of innocence in Angle-American culture. This is his first full-scale attempt to address Carroll's sequel, 'Through the Looking Glass'.Color Cover By Deloss McGraw.
