2 volumes set, complete as issued. Attractively bound in quarter crimson morocco over matching cloth, spines with raised bands and striking gilt masque designs within gilt-ruled compartments, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers (some light rubbing to boards). The subjects of the hand-colored plates are all portraits of characters from the plays, except the frontispiece, which is a portrait of Moliere himself. While there is a bit of darkening to the margins of most of the plates, they are nicely executed and the colors are vivid and bright. Notes: Hand-colored Plates.
