L'enfant qui venait du Vietnam. Re´cit. Traduit du bulgare par Mireille Gansel et Blaga Dimitrova

Editions Du Seuil, 1973. First Edition. Trade Paperback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Very Good / No Jacket. Item #005501893

Signed and inscribed by author to noted American poet Denise Levertov: 'To M's Denise Levertov with best admirations B. Dimitrova 26 IX 80. Sofia.' A very good copy in the original wraps (minor wear to edges; slight traces of dampstaining to bottom edge). A nice association between two prominent poets, each active against the Vietnam War. Blaga Nikolova Dimitrova (1922-2003) was a Bulgarian poet, later elected Vice-President of Bulgaria. During the Vietnam War, Dimitrova visited the country several times as a journalist, and in 1967 adopted a Vietnamese girl. This book appears to be the story of those experiences. Levertov was herself a prominent antiwar activist and author of a powerful body of antiwar poetry, including the collection 'Life at War', composed of poems inspired by the Vietnam War, which was published the same year as Dimitrova adopted her daughter.
