It produced plays by Shakespeare, T S Eliot, W H Auden, Christopher Isherwood, and Stephen Spender, among others, and also organised a range of cultural activities. Artists such as Henry Moore and Duncan Grant designed sets for the productions. The composer Benjamin Britten began collaborating with the company in 1935, writing incidental music for many of its productions.'
