Beautifully bound, complete 15-volume set of the first Valpy edition, issued 1832-1834. Uniformly bound in 3/4 navy blue polished calf over marbled boards by Root & Son for Charles E. Lauriat Co., Boston, each volume featuring a spine with five raised bands, twin red morocco labels, and gilt-ruled compartments featuring three gilt floral devices and an intersting design of a sword crossed with a masque-topped jester's stick and wreath, covers bordered with twin gilt rules, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers (slight rubbing; plates are browned as usual, one ding to top of spine on volume VII). An attractive, sturdy, readable set, eminently suitable as a gift.
