Vashon Island, WA: The Author, 1948. First Edition. Single Sheet. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Very Good. Item #00537704
Fine typed letter signed on the author's beautiful light brown printed letterhead, complete with matching stamped and postmarked mailing envelope ("Vashon Heights, Vashon Island Washington"). The letterhead is printed in the same color of print ink with which Betty MacDonald signs the letter, resulting in a very attractive appearance. The letter, dated September 10, 1948, is to artist C.D. Raymond of Seattle, starts off in a bit of a characteristic muddle as MacDonald apologizes for her rudeness in her delayed response to a gift of some original prints (presumably by the recipient), noting that she had mislaid Mr. Raymond's address. MacDonald says she loves the prints, noting in particular those titled 'Waterloo" and "Tatton", and goes on to extend an invitation to dinner.
