One of the earliest Bibles issued by the American Bible Society (the first was 1816), this double-column edition is fairly uncommon. Bound in full original brown panelled calf, "American Bible Society" in blind on front cover (heavy wear to spine and boards with some chipping; old brown cloth repair to front hinge; foxing, wear, and some tears to text; a few ink annotations of a theological nature in additional to the genealogical notes listed below). 705; 215 pages. The family Bible of Hobart Estabrook (died 1872) and his wife Asenath (died 1877), of East Haddam, CT, and later Newfield, NY and Havana, NY. Estabrook was prominent, having charge of the State of Connecticut's land holdings in New York (some 16,000 acres). Other names include Riggs, Vaill, Ackley, Harvey, Vanhorn, Potter & Beebe.Numerous annotations, and newspaper clippings (mainly obituaries) laid in.
