AMAZING HALL OF FAME BASEBALL PROVENANCE! This fragile, brittle survivor is in rough shape - but what a copy! The covers are intact, but the first 40 pages of the text are loose but presednt, with tears and chipping to edges (and some loss of text). This vintage paperback was glued into a red cloth hardcover, front which the paperback is pulling away (with loss of spine text). From the library of Hall of Famer E.G. 'Ed' Barrow, with his name stamped in gilt on the front cover of the red cloth hardcover (and '1928' hand-lettered on the spine). Barrow was a player, manager known for converting Babe Ruth into an outfielder, winning the 1918 World Series with the Red Sox, and building the Yankees dynasty as their business manager starting after the 1920 season. He later declined the job of Commissioner of Baseball (to succeed Kenesaw Mountain Landis).
