2 volumes, complete as issued. xii + 274pp.; 247pp.Beautifully bound in full dark blue crushed Levant morocco by Tallibart, spines with raised bands and gilt tooling within gilt-bordered compartments, covers panelled with five give rules and floral devices at corners, top edges gilt, elaborately gilt-tooled inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, other edges uncut. This set has a proof of the frontis to Volume I, in addition to the completed engraved plate, both signed Tony Johannot in the plate (the proof more freehand and larger at center). Apparently a translation of Douxme´nil's 'Memoires et lettres pour servir a` l'histoire de la vie de Mademoiselle de L'Enclos,' 1751, though the translator, Elizabeth Griffith says it is from 'detached pieces lately published in France under the title of Le petit reservoir'. The letters to the Marquis de Sevigne´ are the spurious ones composed by Louis Damours and sometimes ascribed to C.P. Jolyot de Cre´billon.
